What is a participating member?
Participating members are those who participate in every activity related to the school; parent of the day, assist with fundraising efforts, serves on a committees as needed, has a parent job, attends membership meetings, and attends school cleanup/setup days. Parent of the Day is a great time to watch your child learn in their actual class environment. It also gives you the opportunity to use your skills to assist with daily activities in art, science, music, etc. Attending monthly meetings to discuss upcoming events and important notices is also another participating requirement. Each parent chooses a parent job and is responsible for the duties required for that role. For example, a parent may be responsible to making play dough on a regular basis or the purchase coordinator will check all the supplies to ensure the children don't run out of crayons or tissues. Fundraising support can be in the form of soliciting donations from friends and family members and volunteering your time to help setup/breakdown/etc for the event. Becoming a participating member is the best way to remain active in your child's education. We encourage you to involve yourself as much as possible to develop long lasting friendships for your child and with other parents.
Parent of the Day (POD)
DCP is a Cooperative Preschool. What this means is that parents are encouraged to participate in the educational experience and growth of their child(ren) by becoming a participating parent with the preschool. What this means is you may be asked a few days in the month to come and be the Parent of the Day by working with the children and assisting in workshops, lessons, play, and cleanup. Stickler for details?
